Dear Volunteers,
The following is a draft plan for SGLA’s participation at the two Canada Day events being hosted by Scarborough Council: (1) Information Booth and (2) Canada Day Parade.
Event #1 Information Booth: 
Location is at Thomson Park at the North East corner of Brimley and Lawrence.
Time: 10:00 am to 3:00 pm
  • Setup Time from 9:30 am to 10:00 am – Mohan and Jeya will do setup
  • Volunteer First Shift: from 9:30 to 12:30 pm – We need two Volunteers
  • Second Shift: From 12:00 to 3:00 pm – We need two Volunteers
  • Close: Pack up tent & Materials – Tom and volunteers
  • Volunteers can join the parade after closing – follow the instructions below. Tom can give you a ride to the parade starting point.
Event #2: Canada Day Parade (4:00 to 6:00 pm)
  • Parade starts at corner of Triton Road & Brimley (East Side)
  • Time: Volunteers must Arrive at 3:30 pm at the staging area – ask Guides for direction
  • Parking: Park in the parking lot of Boston Pizza which is at the North East corner of Brimley and Progress, or nearby parking lots. Walk South on Brimley to Triton Road and look for the parade staging area..
  • Parade Order #27 – Our location is #27. Look for a White Honda CRV with SGLA’s banner. Ramesh and Mohan will do the setup and handout TGLN supplied Organ & Tissue donation signs.
  • We Need at least 10 Volunteers to walk in the parade from the staging area going South on Brimley to the Corner of Lawrence and Brimley where the parade ends. at 6:00 pm. Remember to bring water, sunglasses etc.
  • Shuttle Bus Service: available from David and Mary Thomson Collegiate (near Brimley and Lawrence) back to Scarborough Civic Centre.

Please RSVP as soon as possible and state if you want to volunteer at Event #1 or Event #2 or Both.  Please pass this email on to your family and friends and students who wish to join us in the parade. Further details including maps will be sent to those who volunteer.
